Most people have no idea who Trump’s Campaign Manager Paul Manafort (aka “Paulie Walnuts”) really is. Wikipedia states that he has been involved in Republican political campaigns since 1976. Besides helping candidates win offices, he has been a vigorous lobbyist. His client list often looks, however, more like a list of Most Wanted War Criminals. (Source)
In the early 2000’s, Manafort shifted more of his work to electing candidates affiliated and supported by Vladimir Putin and Russian oligarchs. After lobbying and supporting the regime of Ukranian Viktor Yanukovych, U.S. Ambassador William Taylor’s complained that Manafort was undermining U.S. interests in Ukraine.
According to a 2008 U.S. Justice Department annual report, over a sixth-month period ending on March 31, 2008, Yanukovych’s Party of Regions paid Manafort’s company $63,750 for consulting services. “In 2010, under Manafort’s tutelage, the opposition leader put the Orange Revolution on trial, campaigning against its leaders’ management of a weak economy. Returns from the presidential election gave Yanukovych a narrow win over Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, a leader of the 2004 demonstrations. Yanukovych owed his comeback in Ukraine’s presidential election to a drastic makeover of his political persona and, people in his party say that makeover was engineered in part by his American consultant, Paul Manafort.”
In February of 2014, Yanukovych was overthrown by the Euromaidan protests, during the 2014 Ukrainian revolution, then fled to Russia and Putin’s open arms!
These connections between Yanukovych, Putin, Manafort & Trump led former Republican George Will to pose the following question:
Are Trump’s financial connections and interests with powerful Russians the primary reason he has FAILED (refused?) to release any tax returns? (Source)
What is Donald Trump hiding?
The F.B.I has begun to investigate if Julian Assange’s WikiLeaks release of thousands of DNC emails emanated from Russian hackers friendly to Trump. There are serious questions about a foreign government, especially Russia, intruding into the U.S Democratic political process. (Source)
It becomes not only fair but necessary to ask Can We Trust Donald Trump to be our Commander-in-Chief?
Not only has he never served in any branch of the US Military, but he compared his stint in a military prep-school to actual service! He said, “I always felt like I was in the military. I got ‘more’ training militarily than a lot of guys that go into the military.”
How Trump remained a viable candidate for ANY political office after saying Senator John McCain was not a true war hero because he was caught and imprisoned as a POW–forget about his being tortured for 5 years–is beneath contempt!
Trump has shown that he does not support veterans, as amply illustrated by his telethon debacle last spring. (Source)
Trump not only touts support by Russia and North Korean dictators, but he says he would not treat NATO and our European allies as anything more than a business venture. Yes, our allies had better “pay up.” He reveals a deadly lack of foreign policy understanding. Then when criticized, he doubles down adding he would consider having the US leave the World Trade Organization as well. (Source)
Trump also calls for a resumption of waterboarding and other methods of “Enhanced Interrogation.” Pay no mind that this would violate the Rules of the Geneva Convention as well as the US Code of Military Conduct.
It is clear that Donald Trump has shown no interest in studying, absorbing or mastering the enormous complexities of foreign policies.
John Kasich reported that after being considered for Trump’s running mate, he first asked, “What will my responsibilities be as V.P?”
The answer? “You will be in charge of foreign and domestic policies.”
He the asked, “What will Trump be doing?”
The answer? “Making America Great!”
Is that enough to make you feel secure?
