I’ve been seeing this garbage posted many times ob social media over the last few years, and it never ceases to amaze me that, in the United States of America, there are people ignorant enough to think this was a valid point. (Warning; if you’re allergic to stupid, protect your brain cells now and look away!):
If you have ever reposted anything like this because you agree, you should know that sane people are laughing at you. Hard. I mean, think about it.
If undocumented immigrants actually got all of those things, then explain why they hide. Our border enforcement officials deport thousands who have come here extra-legally. And let’s face it; no one gets free heath care, unless they show up at the Emergency Room and need treatment to stay alive. As for education, if the parents come into the United States illegally, why should the children suffer? In most cases, their parents are working their asses off at jobs that are back-breaking and low-paying. And what’s the alternative? Let their kids stay here and keep them ignorant? The rest of us have to live with these kids when they grow up. If they can learn something while they’re here, I say more power to them?
Strangely, that’s not even the dumbest part of this. Think about the above again.
The people who post this garbage live in the United States of America; a country where they are free to post stupid crap like this at will, and where they are free to get a passport and travel everywhere else in the world and enjoy the full protection of the United States government wherever they go. They enjoy one of the most prosperous and free societies in the history of the world.
But that, apparently, isn’t how they think we should be as a nation. Apparently, they feel the United States should emulate nations like North Korea, which is one of the most brutally repressive dictatorships in history, or Afghanistan, which is one of the most backward.
Like I said, most all of the undocumented immigrants who are here are working their asses off. If you can think of a plan short of using the military to drive them out, let’s hear it. We need a comprehensive immigration plan that creates a path to citizenship, and that most certainly does not make us like North Korea or Afghanistan.
Yes, we need to secure the border, but we don’t have to sacrifice our humanity to do so.
