400 Obama Accomplishments so far, With Citations

In 2008, we elected the most progressive president in history. And regardless of the negativity, when you actually look at the record, there has been a lot of progress since January 20, 2009. If you’ll recall, when he took over the reins of power, the economy was in free-fall and we were practically a world laughingstock. That is no longer the case.

Here is a list of many of President Obama’s accomplishments as President. Every one of them has a citation, so no one can dismiss them out of hand, although many have tried since I started to compile this list Even with the obstacles we gave him, especially the Republican Congress, this President will leave behind a wonderful legacy.

If we want to win elections – and in a democracy, that has to be our main goal – we have to make people want to vote for us. That means accentuating the positive, and talking about how great we are, especially compared to the alternative.

Despite the characterizations of some, Obama’s success rate in winning congressional votes on issues was an unprecedented 96.7% for his first year in office.  Though he is often cited as superior to Obama, President Lyndon Johnson’s success rate in 1965 was only 93%.   http://n.pr/i3d7cY

And of course…

Despite the odds, became the first black president and then, was reelected by a wide margin.

  1. Africa America Students this is project material. Now do the research. I agree. Here is a thought. Had President Obama didn’t pay his taxes and if he was accursed of sexual crimes…he would be found guilty without a trial. The thought of being President would be a thought.

  2. I couldn’t disagree more regarding your illusions about Obama, the best pres of my life, and I’m sure I’ve been around much longer than you. Free speech means I do not have to stand for the national anthem, and I can vigorously say that this narcissicistic pres elect is not my president. He doesn’t represent American values. He does represent greed, power and everything that is wrong with the human race. I mean, you voted for a sexual predator who hasn’t paid taxes in twenty years, the first in sixty years to not release his taxes. Why? Because he’s in bed with the Russians. He’s obviously in this to strengthen the ‘trump empire’, not to help you and me. So, you see, those of you who support this small minded and egotistical demagogue lost just like those of us who oppose him. He doesn’t even understand or want to follow the US Constitution, i.e., his hope to get rid do the first amendment, similar to Hitler and other dictators, so people cannot criticize him. Obama is a constitutional genius, but most trump supporters are not smart enough to know that. So, I continue to vehemently say that trump is not my president, and many of us will do as much as we can to get him out of office as soon as possible. I also refuse to buy ‘American’ until he is out of office. Now, that’s American, because those of us who oppose him will actually help bring America back. Now, let’s see if you can articulate a response that is longer than the average trump twitter response. I expect a completely visceral response, if you know what that means.

  3. I appreciate you doing this list as well. It makes me really really happy to hear the good things. You don’t hear them often.

  4. Our last republican president: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JhmdEq3JhoY
No matter how many times I watch this, I cannot help but laugh and I cannot believe he was our president. Bush was just looking for reasons to go to war. Obama had to clean up the mess this idiot left behind and has made so much progress. It’s sickening that Trump is the new president…

    1. Trump is starting to make Bush look good. Imagine that! One idiot in the White House wasn’t enough. Trump voters have a very short memory. Democrats will come to the rescue AGAIN.

  5. Yes, we did recently have another terrorist attack. It was done by a lone gun man, US Military. Perhaps we should start a registry for military personnel.

  6. That’s an amazing list of he’s accomplishments. Thank you very much. I loved being able to send it to my cousin today who asked me for just one thing that Obama had done to make his life better. I was able too send him your list. Him being from the very very red state state of Missouri. Nice to have this now to throw back at in the uneducated and uninformed faces. Let them talk shit now.

    1. The people who ask that kind of question (name one thing that Obama had done) assume that their ignorance means nothing was accomplished.

  7. Thank you for all the time and effort you put forth in this list. It’s almost as impressive as the 400 accomplishments completed.

Seriously though, it helped me with a large group of Obama haters / Trump supporters on, believe it or not, Pinterest. There was a meme with Obama wearing a red trucker hat that said “I already made America great again.” There were 48 comments on it and out of those 48 only 4 of them were positive. Each positive comment spoke about his accomplishments and the haters were like sharks tearing them apart. I pasted a link to your 400 Obama Accomplishments. Radio silence with regard to two who resorted to calling me names instead.

President Obama was, by far, our best president. For eight years he accomplished more than multiple presidents preceding him and all while clawing his way up the obstante Republican hill. He was kind, compassionate, caring and loyal. Even his final address tonight was graceful. I was moved to tears and I’m sure I’m not the only one.

His message to the American people was powerful and doubled as a message to the new administration. While it was powerful and inspiring to us – it was quite assertive and, even, forceful, to the new administration. Regardless of the “lessons” I’m terrified of what’s to come.

  8. Cynical, but a lot of truth to your statement. I guess I had an illusion of hope in 2008. Although in many respects, some improvements have helped many, but I feel we’ve gone back 50 years in one election. Amazing!

    1. Yeah, I have a lot of updating to do, and I will have it completely updated by January 20… and the list will remain up forever… or as long as I can keep it there.

      1. Great public service. Thanks. A lot of talks right now about Trump and the Republican Congress aiming to destroy President Obama policies et al. I would like to see next to your list those being reversed in the next four years so it will be clear what damage the new administration will have done to our country.

  10. Cuba? I’m moving to Italy this summer. You can have Trump’s America. We’ll be at war before the year is over. Too many buffoons in this country.

  11. Pingback: Fight Smart
  12. Thank you President Obama. You served our county well. I already tear up when I see you speak to us knowing it’s coming to an end. I am 61 and you were the best and most considerate President of my lifetime. We can never repay you enough.

    1. I agree! I cannot believe he is being followed by Trump. We are supposed to be making progress, but Trump is moving us in the opposite direction.

  13. I admit I am not a fan of Obama but this list seems impressive. My problem is none of those accomplishments did anything positive for me or my family. The only thing I have noticed is more money coming out of my paycheck, before I see it. I worked long and hard my whole life so that I could provide for my family. Now I have to work longer and harder the rest of my life to provide for someone else’s. I was hoping at this age (49) there would finally be some financial relief for me. Instead my health insurance has doubled and my hours at work are dropping. I personally will remember him as the president who didn’t give a crap about me or my family.

    1. You know how I can spot a fake? Anyone who says they are having more money taken out of their pay before they get it is LYING. Anyone who says that none of these accomplishments did anything for their family is either lying or woefully ignorant. Hell, even if you’re too stupid to notice, your health insurance is WAY better after Obama fixed it. You can’t be denied insurance, you can’t be canceled, there are no coverage limits and inflation in healthcare is lower than it’s been since the 1940s.

And no, your health insurance has not “doubled.” If your hours at work are dropping, you need a new job. In fact, if there’s a problem, it’s that people are tending to work too many hours. BTW, Obama also tried to give you more overtime pay.

BTW, the president who didn’t give a crap about you and your family (I doubt that you have one, since you lie about everything) was Bush and is Trump. No, go troll someone else.

      1. You are clueless. How long have you been paying for insurance and how long have you been on your plan. I’ve been on mine for over 20 years now. My monthly insurance cost tripled in 8 years and now I have a $5000 deductible. I never had one at all before the AHC.

        1. YOU are clueless. If your monthly insurance costs tripled in 8 years and you have a $5000 deductible, it’s because you’re too stupid to do the work to lower it. Health insurance rates have risen an average of 4% per year since 2010, which means, if your premiums tripled since then, YOU did something stupid. There are several levels of policy, so if $5k is too high for you, then pay more for a lower deductible plan. And if you make less than $96k/yr, you qualify for a subsidy. I am self-employed, so I pay more for insurance than most people and I used to pay $550 per month and now it’s about $150. There is just no way your premiums have tripled in 8 years. BTW, the law is the ACA, so you’re not even a good propagandist.

          1. I now pay $13.87 an hour and work 40+hrs a week. My options are Kaiser and Blue Cross. My insurance was always 80/20 coverage with no deductible. Since the implementation of ACA I now have a $5000 deductible. My monthly/hourly contribution has tripled. I can not opt out. This coverage is for me and how ever dependents I have but would remain the same amount even if it was just me. My only opt out would be unemployment. Then Cobra coverage would be $1440 a month. I’ve had this plan for 20 years. There is no option for me to opt out. My family and I are healthy and don’t use it. Insurance was meant to be used for a catastrophic injury or illness. It was never meant to be used for maintenance healthcare needs period. MY INSURANCE COST HAVE TRIPLED IN THE LAST 8 YEARS. What part don’t you get? I make about the same as you do not including my benefits and as long as I’m working in my field I have no choice. I’m essentially forced to have the plan. The only two positives of Obama Care are children are on their parents plan until 26 and that insurance companies can’t hold pre existing conditions against you. The rest is seriously flawed. I think you’re the only person that I have ever talked to that thinks it’s great. Really you’re the only one. Even the staunchest left wingers agree.

          2. Okay, assuming that you mean you make $13.87 per hour, if you had a brain in your head, you would go to healthcare.gov and look for a new plan. I just looked for you and depending on your state (I could look it up, but I don’t care), you should be able to find a plan that costs you about $50 a month, after a subsidy with a $5000 deductible, or a lower deductible plan for about $80 a month. If you have a family, that will jack it way up to about $160 per month. If THAT is “triple what it was 8 years ago, then… well, I know you’re lying, anyway, so there you go.

There is nothing in the ACA that forces a private insurance company to charge a lot for insurance. if your insurance company is gouging you, then take it up with them and your employer, or go onto the exchange and look for an alternative.

And stop saying you have the same insurance you’ve had for 20 years. Your insurance is BETTER than it was 20 years ago. 20 years ago, my insurance company refused to cover the only medical problem I had back then and I was forced to live with it. Now, they have to cover it.

Go away. You’re a liar and you’re not even good at it.

          3. I’m on Medicare, Part B costs me $110 a month, Part D $64.00 a month plus a co-pay (drug prices have doubled and quadrupled thanks to Big Pharma.) Add a supplement to Medicare at $217 a month…grand total $391 a month. That’s for one person only, double it for two. Got a raise for the first time in 3 years, .03%..whoopee!! So quit yer bitching. If I can manage so can you!

        2. have Co workers and customers alike have told me the same basic thing. All “middle class”. What good BHO may have done will forever be overshadowed by this and his divisiveness via statements ie “you didn’t build that.”

      2. Well said! Do I also detect some racism in his first sentence. Can’t wait till Trump chews him up and spits him out! His cabinet choices prove it, nothing but commie and organized crime ties. God help us all.

    2. So let me get this right– you probably voted for the narcisisstic millionaire who is doing most of his business overseas and will never understand a working class guy like you. It is doubtful that a man who obtained visas to import immigrants to work on his building projects and has appointed a labor secretary who does not believe in increasing the minimum wage will ever help your company to put more money in your pocket. If he cuts taxes for businesses, my bet is that money will go into the pockets of the owners not the workers. Labor unions are not on the top of their list of friends!

    3. i am a fan whether or not he did anything for me personally. My ego isn’t that big. I’m 65 and, in my humble opinion, Obama was the best president in my life. The fact is that he accomplished much for what I used to feel was my country. A new movement needs to start to rebel against this new egotistical pathological narcissist that was recently elected. One little thing that can be done that I have started to do. Do not stand for the national anthem. For anyone of sound mind – America is no longer our country, but perhaps there is a chance that we can change that. Any other ideas on how to respond to the buffoon and to all the buffoons who put him in office would be appreciated.

    4. You have a point, first it sounds like you have a job that provides for your family. It sounds like you are doing a pretty good job, So why the whinny “what do I get from President Obama?? If you read all 400 of his accomplishments and you are half way educated with or without a college degree you would see much of his work as president affect all Americans. The economy is no longer in free fall which probably saved your job. Gas you put in your car is no longer $4 per gallon. The roads you drive on and the infrastructure you have access to are being repaired and upgraded. Your taxes are no longer funding an unsustainable war. You are truly blessed and have an opportunity to leave a legacy for your family. Stop looking for people to do for you and do for your self. President Obama was the best President we could have had for the last 8 years. He did an amazing year surrounded by members of the Senate, Congress and in the House of Rep who hated him and did everything to make him fail. How did President Obama react?? With class and dignity and got the job done!!! That is what I’m thinking.

    5. I was raised Conservative, and there are some stellar Conservative values that I have maintained, and one of them is that we should analyze our responsibilities before blaming someone else. I made it a point to ensure that I did not have too many children and I found a way to get a Master’s Degree to ensure I was financially stable. It wasn’t easy and my parents did not have the money to help, but I did the work. Additionally, I wonder how much less would be coming out of our paychecks if the Bush Administration had not started a complex war that is impossible to extricate ourselves from. Just my opinion.

  14. They have only obstructed all thing Obama. It did not matter if it was good for the country or not, if Obama proposed it, it was to be obstructed by the Ropliken majority. The statement was,”anything President Obama proposes we will stop.

  15. I am thankful for President Barack Obama. I don’t want his protection and good will, and positive good direction for well-being of humanity and our planet to leave us.

  16. Very impressive list of President Barack Obama ‘s accomplishments. A Trump Supporter challenged me to name three of President Obama’s accomishments. Even when the list of 400 accomplishments are viewed, I doubt if they will be believed if someone chooses not to believe them. However, the accomplishments far exceeds three. .”it is what it is”.

    1. Please do make a to the point video. I’m nauseated by the republican lies, disrespect, and abusive propaganda about Obama, and everything decent that he represents. Thank you in advance.

  17. Obama – inspiring – sincere and moving orator to a global audience – entertaining and edgy but sensitive – pied piper for the good of the world – worth listening to forever

    1. Ms. Rose, I apologize. I’m kind of late to the party, just reading this article and came across your comment. Just awesome! Thank you!!! And we’re not alone. These fools will all see shortly but will never admit it. Blindness won’t allow that. Hey, I tell you what, four years from now, let’s meet up here again and see if anything has changed for these folks. Ha! Somehow I have a feeling they will still be here blaming Obama. And strangely enough, they will still be where they are but “better” because someone who looks like them is their “Commander”. Remember he loves the “uneducated” so I don’t expect much of a change from these poor, angry Americans (not literally poor-that was for the uneducated). These are grown folks who are 30, 40, 50 years old and even older. How many presidental elections and presidents have they lived through? (For the uneducated, it’s simple math-for a rough idea, just take your age and divide it by 4 or 8-whichever is easiest for you-or which number makes you feel better). And the last 8 years of Obama have ruined their lives?! Ha! “Come on Man!!!” Just comical!!! Keep doing your thing Ms. Rose as I will continue doing mine. We need “uneducated” fools like these in the world! Much respect!!! 🙂

  19. Though the riots were a little violent, I’m still very happy to see the protests against Trump. All he ever did throughout his campaign was bash on other people and release more racism and sexism. He’d constantly bash on Obama. I’m surprised people were stupid enough to believe his childish thoughts and even believe that the election is “rigged” all throughout his losses. Always playing the “bias” card every time something doesn’t go his way… Lmao… Trump never had any bias against him. The media was on neither side, not trump, not Hillary, they were just doing their job. If it wasn’t for the media, people wouldn’t have known about Hillary’s emails. Of course, both candidates were bad, but if I had to choose, I’d have to choose someone who has more stances that I’d agree with rather than the other which has little to no good stances. I’d choose Hillary, who would continue Obama’s legacy. Hillary may be a bad candidate, but Obama was a damn great president and Trump is the complete opposite of him.

    1. You are clearly blind and dim witted. We are in a 20 trillion deficit that will increase into Trump’s presidency. So, Obama may have done all this stuff, but with what consequences? How can you spend money that YOU DON’T HAVE? We are a broken nation that owes more money than we have. Don’t be ignorant. We do know that non citizens voted in this election as Obama told them they could. There is a video out there with a young girl interviewing him and he said right on there that no one would stop them from voting. Yes, all the sanctuary cities are exactly where the major votes for Hillary came from, east and west coast. Hence that would make the “popular” vote so high. It will be refreshing to have all this liberal cry baby BS gone. I am tired of all this political correctness for fear we might hurt someone’s little feelings. And no thank you on Obama’s legacy…I’ve had all I can take.

      1. There is not a single fact in the above. NOT ONE. I’m only leaving it here to embarrass you. I’ve had all I can take of people accusing others of being ignorant, while peddling even worse ignorance. Stop being a dumbass.

      2. You need to learn the difference between the national debt and the deficit. We are at the lowest deficit in many years, although our national debt is nearing 20 trillion dollars.

      3. And who did Obama inherit that debt from? Bush, Jr. (who, mind you, refused to support Trump). When Bill Clinton exited office we had one of the biggest – if not the biggest – surpluses in history. I think you are confusing facts w/political correctness. The reason Yrump has been put in office is due to an electorate that is waiting for someone else to save them, eager to blame everyone else – but especially minorities – for their problems, and a refusal to educate themselves. If you’re so confident in the issues, start pushing them & stop wasting your time with name-calling.

        1. I have said again and again, the majority of the trump voters sit on their asses waiting for someone to spoon feed them education and jobs without getting up and doing something for themselves. I have had to re-train, re-locate and finally obatain a college degree as an older student in order to provide for my family. All as a single widowed mother without family support. If I can do that to stay viable in the job market, why can’t all these whining men and their parasitic women? Just sayin’!!!

        2. Well look at the debt in 2008 and now and get back to me. Obama didn’t need any help from Bush to run up the debt. He doubled what Bush spent. I’m not a fan of Bush but fighting a war isn’t cheap.

          1. You’re an idiot. Presidents can have a say regarding deficits, NOT debt. If you would bother to look, you would find that most of the debt added in the last 3-4 years has been paying interest on the old debt Republicans ran up. In fact, in FY 2015, the overall deficit was $448 billion, and the interest on the debt already accumulated was $423 billion. Now, go away. You’re annoying and you have no grasp of facts.

      4. RozeCity: Oh come now sweetheart, even I know more right-wing falsities than THAT!! Out of 8 years of Alex Jones, Glenn Beck, WorldNet Daily and Fox News ALONENESS could fill a library of lies and conspiracy theories-THESE are all you’ve got?? Sorry, but after 8 years of researching, fact-checking and writing; I for one, welcome an administration like Trump’s which is so completely built on delusion and devoid of truth, fact-checking will become extinct. Like the Roman Empire, this country will be felled by ignorance and misplaced hatred of our fellow man.

All because the wealthy elite, the corporatocracy whom I’ve heard many Trump cultists swear their candidate was against, (you know, because most billionaire real estate developers who’ve worked in Hollywood aren’t a part of the “elite”-why, Trump LOVES the poor minions who work for him! He doesn’t PAY them, but HEY, he’s NOT “elite”!!); has WON. And to the Trumpeteers who elected this buffoon to the highest office in the free world: YOU OWN THIS!!

We don’t want to hear you Trump cry-babies complaining about the “WALL” he’s admitted he’s not building; not jailing Clinton as he promised; not “repealing and replacing Obamacare” which he said he’s keeping most of; not “draining the swamp” and “getting rid of all the pay-to-play lobbyists”–which completely comprise his cabinet and advisory board; and finally “not adding a penny to the deficit”, except even Republican economists admit his tax cuts ALONENESS would add 5 TRILLIONS to the debt. Oh, and just for the record, do you make less than $150K? If so, Trump and Ryan’s plan RAISES your taxes. Don’t worry though, as long as you make enough to take deductions, Ivanka has crafted a plan that you can deduct a small part of any child care expenses you pay, (more if it’s a private Nanny!!)

PS: I understand that it’s apparently far too difficult for you guys to do, but before supposedly quoting the President and something you were told he said; FIRST: look up the word “Context” it will come in handy in your life. 2. Listen to the entire question and response. Now, I know this also may be hard for you to grasp, but Liberal cry-babies aren’t the only ones who edit videos. There are some videos of this instance out there that have been edited. Please watch the original. Otherwise, people might think you’re only watching the clips and reading those descriptions from conservative websites ONLY because it’s what you WANT to hear; not because you want to know the truth.
And we wouldn’t want THAT now, would we?

      5. Rozecityrose….Please do more research before you make incorrect comments. You can google “history of the federal debt” & see how each President has added to, or reduced, the national debt…which is different from the annual federal budget. Most if not all of the items that were an expense item was covered within the current federal budget…which means the money to do it was already in the budget. Then, as for your dislike of …”refreshing to have all this liberal cry baby BS gone” ,,,let’s hope that oll of the decisions that Trump will be making…that turn out to be bad for our country & will affect most Americans, let’s hope it all affects you directly so you can truly enjoy & relish in your …”cry baby BS spoiled brat narcissistic racist sexist uneducated Trump”. You deserve it I think.

        1. One idiotic troll and you guys fill this list with the same responses that you’ve been making to trolls forever. It fills these comments with crap and loses touch with the spirit of the post. Trolls post messages like this for that very purpose. Don’t buy into it. It’s simply a waste of your time.

          Ignore trolls… it’s what they’re for.

      6. Hey dip shit, the annual deficit has gone own steadily since Obama’s taken office. In fact, growth in government spending is the lowest under this president than any president since Dwight D Eisenhower. Know your facts buddy. If things continue moving in the direction they are moving in, we will soon be paying the debt off. Let’s see if Trump doesn’t end up tripling our annual deficits again. But let’s be clear, very clear, the debt today is a result of the annual deficits that Obama inherited by Gowrie w Bush, due to the same disastrous policies that Trump endorses and campaigned on. Eeeek!!!

      7. Ummmm….have you been smoking the funny stuff. Trump supporters are so undereducated they believe anything you tell them. I have a bridge in Brooklyn I’d like to sell you!

      8. Open economics book, see “public debt”. It’s worth mentioning a bunch of money from the war (several trillion dollars) was spent on credit and didn’t come due until 2010. We have credit and production, our production exceeds our production so many countries invest in our money (debt we owe them for investment). Not to mention 43% of our debt is to Americans. If we wanted to we could pay it off…By why? Who would invest with no return? I doubt you care, but instead of spouting, you may want to read about fiscal economics and monetary policy in the united States before you ever post anything remotely related to natiinal debt ever again.

    2. Trump is scum and a pathological liar. Wait till his loyal followers find out he doesn’t give a darn about them. Just look at his appointees so far, hope they don’t confirm them, they’re just as shady as he is.

  20. So much bullshit in these comments.. i would like to see any of you being a president haha if you are all such good presidents why dont you run for it?? I want see any of you do better than obama… critics critics critics…..

  21. I am 65 years old… I’m thinking President Barack Hassan Obama is the best president of my lifetime. The first step one I remember is Dionne. Eisenhower. Now that’s saying something!!! If it were possible for him to run again, he would have my vote. What a wonderful President, and Person. Love his wife and children!!! May God keep holding His had of protection over them…..e will miss them!!! ❤

    1. AMEN Bernice. And, a small point; several weeks back Obama addressed the Canadaian or British Parliament and when he finished the House all rose to their feet with applause chanting “Four More Years!”

    2. President Obama is and was a class act. No scandals in 8 years, got a lot of work done in the face of unprecedented obstruction by a do nothing congress and is well respected through out the world. He did all that while being BLACK. THAT’S what the left hated so much. Their answer: Nominate what will be the worst candidate and the most unqualified person for the highest office in the land in the history of this great country. And no, I don’t wish him well and will NEVER stand behind him. He will fail miserably, it’s just a matter of a very short time…

  22. He oversaw a U.S. record of 75+ consecutive months in private sector gob creation, while the unemployment rate went down from about 10% to under 5%; cut more than 600,000 government non-military jobs (federal, state, local); ordered more than 3/4ths of the attacks that caused the deaths of 45,000 ISIS soldiers and loss of half of their revenue and territory; provided stable and measured leadership (opposite of Trump’s erratic and impulsive temperament) that affected record stock market highs; implemented a modified version of 20 yearlong GOP-proposed individual mandate health care plan that resulted in 16 million people newly insured; median household income up; poverty down; our global popularity and trust restored to pre-Bush Jr. levels; largest number of deportations of illegal immigrants of any president; highest military spender since WWII (adjusted for inflation); and a lot more. I’ve written an article series about this topic with supporting data for the claims above: goo.gl/iMhtGy. I welcome feedback.

    1. Andy Rhodes you summed it up so greatly and right now the future looks pretty damned scary. Everything that our President Obama achieve will probably be wiped out by the low life lieing TRUMP this whole thing proves one thing how stupid Americans really are.

    1. History We Write, I’m having a problem with the link you posted. The “poster” on the original link is terrifyingly amusing, that’s fine. But there is a link towards the top of the page that promises a view of all the videos with Trump quotes that only links to a page which sells a satirical book about the bright side of the Trump situation.

What gives? Where are the videos? Or was that just B.S. clickbait?

  23. God bless you, President Obama and God bless your family, Cabinet, Staff, all who have protected you and assisted you, in any way! God bless the USA and please forgive us for all the things that we have done to divide and deduce our nation. The land that You have given us to sustain us as we travel through. Forgive us, Father. I forgive all who have done harm to me and mine. Amen.

  24. I really wish these were organized by date of action. I know that is asking a lot, but it would make it easier to find things.

  25. I am printing this out, rolling it up and securing it with a rubber band. I am taking it with me everywhere I go in my shoulder bag, and when someone starts in with the malarkey that President Obama’s Administration has been a no-no thing presidency. I will thrust it in their face and ask,
    “What do you call this?”
And THIS in spite of the Republicans and Tea Party blocking him from accomplishing ALL he wanted to do.
    Thank you President Obama. <3
    We Love You.

    1. In other words he made the government bigger and over saw a sluggish economy with low paying jobs. And don’t even get me started on Obamacare and all the companies he gave money to that went went bankrupt.

  26. President Barack Hussain Obama is the greatest leader of our time. His childhood shaped who he became. He had a loving mother, an educated father but he left for Kenya when Barack Obama was a young boy and his grandparents in US and his Kenyan grandmother and half sisters and few extended family members…and few years he spent in Indonesia. Regardless how many roadblocks he faced by the Republicians he became ever more resilient and determined to do what he believed in. I wish that he worked persuasively for the Palestinian people to have a homeland of their own..which is the present day Israel. I would hope that Nethanyahun Government would stop building new settlements on the land of Palestinian people and intimidating them, robbing them of their life to live as respectable and honorable people. I wish and pray that the Palestinian people are treated fairly and justly by the Government of United States of America. I wish and pray that President Obama stop the Genocide of the Rohingya Muslims in Burma at the hand of the Buddhist monks. And that the Prime Minister of Burma Su Kyi pass a law against all form of human right violations and that Genocide should be stopped. I wish and pray that President Obama stop the persecution of the Uyghurs (Muslims) of China who are not able to freely practice their Islamic faith in China. I wish and pray that President Obama stop the Modi Government of India of persecuting…rape, murder and destroying their livelyhood and culture of Muslims in Kashmir and that Muslims in some parts of India are allowed to eat Beef. There are many, many cases where Muslims have been killed by some Hindus because they assumed that Muslims had eaten Beef even though they had not. I wish and pray that President Obama pass a bill that Islamophobia or hate against Muslims in America is a hate crime and that it should stopped…just like hate against homosexuals is hate crime. I wish and pray that mothers are not forced to return to work within few weeks of giving birth of their child and leaving the new born baby of few weeks at a day care center instead of taken care by the mother. Those who need to get back to work should be given the choice to not return to work so quickly. Thank you for giving me this opportunity to share my concerns and requests.

    1. If only it was in his power to do all the things you mentioned ,he would have done them. He has addressed injustices here and abroad however, it would take him another eight years (if it were possible) to create the Utopia he envisioned. He is indeed, the greatest president of our time ,and we need all his accomplishments in Black and White out there so we can pass them on to our children and grandchildren. He has even accomplished more than is mentioned in the outline above. He is such a scrupulous person, though the bigots try to paint him as the worst president, his accomplishments and his high moral character cannot be taken away. In my reading of the above, I must have overlooked his challenge of taking on the Swiss Banks where many of the wealthy stash their money while poor and middle class Americans continue to work two and three jobs at minimum wage to survive to support their families.

      1. You are so ignorant. Obama took over in 2008 when the economy was in the tanks thanks to Bush and Republicans. Obama recovered the economy, you should be thanking him but I wouldn’t expect anything else from ignorant people like you

    2. You say Islamophobia should be a hate crime what about the millions of muslims worldwide who hate all non muslims for not believing in Allah. I have never hated any race or religion i lived in the states for 15 years but im now back in the uk where theres certain areas that white christians cannot walk down the street for fear of being attacked by muslims there are many examples of this on you tube etc. Ive seen it myself first hand. All im saying is it works both ways i think certain muslims hate against us a lot more than the other way round, just had to say this cause you make them sound like victims i know there not all bad but neither are we. I also dont understand why president Obama should be responsible for stopping the persecution or killing of muslims worldwide ie China, Burma, india why should he have any part in what happens to muslims over there it has nothing to do with America, would them countrys go the states and stop the KKK from hating black people ? No of course not. America has enough of its own problems domestically with muslim terrorist groups spewing there hate on innocent Americans they dont need to protect muslims worldwide why should they ?

  27. Trump is crooked? Yes Jeff
    Trump is racist? Yes Jeff
    trump is bigot? Yes Jeff
trump is stupide? No Jeff, that’s clearly YOU, with your 3rd grade literacy.

    1. None of those comments are correct because he has never said anything bad about an entire race in general and he is not sexist

  28. Trump is crooked?
    Trump is racist?
    trump is bigot?
    trump is stupide?

………………….all sounds like allegations against YOUR crooked nominee now doesn’t it.

How dare you call me deplorable and the other 80 million who support him.
what makes you so superior Milt? You know me, you know Trump, you know all
THAT in itself is the problem with your party, you so elite, you think you know all (you likely are part of the 47%!)

    1. Trump is a proven bigot, he’s purposely appealing to white nationalists and his entire business career is about scamming people. He’s a crook. Meanwhile, Hillary’s been accused of all kinds of shit and no one has been able to prove any of it. If you support An unqualified dopey racist for president, you are deplorable. And don’t look now, Jeff, but only one of us has called himself better than the other and that’a you. You elitist.

BTW, no pissing contests here, so this will be your only warning. The next one better be truthful or it’ll be gone.

    2. Jeff, hi. You have your other trumpeters, Putin and I’m pretty sure Isis loving the President elect. Then there is us, the rest of the entire planet. Stupidity will not win.You have elected Russia’s choice, you have given Isis the last laugh, at you and every ignorant fool in your country. There is a reason its you against the sane world, and that alone should make you all step back and actually listen to facts and truth.

    3. Does it matter who knows him,you will only believe what Tump wants you too!!! For the life of me I will never understand why Trump supporters insist on say your party or candidate!!!!!!!! I’m neither.. but what I’m is anti Trump!!!!!!!! He bankrupted a friend of mine not a corporation a living breathing middle class plumber a man with 2 small children a man who’s parents lost their house trying to help him out of the mess believing in Trump caused him!!! And what pisses me off the most is Trump did it to get a head, because the 1500 New York City Apartments and the millions of dollars his daddy left him were not enough!!!! So all of this he’s a good guy bullshit is exactly that shit!!!! I don’t know about you but I’ve been told my whole life that when someone shows you who they are believe them!!!! But I guess that doesn’t matter either as long as Tump steals from someone else to give to the lower 48% because trust him he’s the best at it!! he knows more than all the other Thieves believe him!!!
Donald Tump is in it for Donald Tump
Bottom line that’s it!!! That’s all!

  29. Trump is “ignorant” and stupid”
That speaks volumes about your level of intelligence!

yes, I’m one of the deplorable human being who does work, pay taxes, owns a gun and VOTES!!! And I don’t vote for crooked corrupt Clinton’s either.

    1. Republicans have hounded her and sucked the FBI. Attorney General AND tHeir own committee…spent millions of tax payers money and altho she made mistakes…she wasn’t guilty of anything They threw at her. Now Trump is yet to g ready to face the same things and oooppps he isn’t fairing so well. Starting to fall apart. Instead of defending himself and answer questions he points his finger at the Clintons. THEY are not running….HILLARY is. She stood and faced all the charges and accusations. His turn…show us the tax returns. Explain groping women and bragging about it. Explain your tax an and how it will only help you. Be truthful. Stop lying. You have ripped off small businesses you have ripped off your students from Trump university. You went bankrupt and would do it to the country. Admit you pledge money to the vets and never paid it. Your charity IS Used for your personal use….which is illegal….that’s why you keep saying crap about The Clintons…because the more you repeat it the more your followers believe it. It is ALL your lies. Shameful. 90% of what you are fact checked on is LIES!!! What does that make you? A liar. Actions speak louder than words….you should be in quick sand right about now.

      1. I can’t even believe I’m friends with a few of his supporters. I’m still surprised why anyone would even support him! I never politically agreed with anyone other than my family this much!!! Thank you, I agree with you a lot!!!!

    2. Jeff, the only thing that you know about comes out of your butt after you had breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Please don’t confuse it with real knowledge.

If you vote for this fool, all that you will have done is make sure that fascism has come to the United States. But I guess that with morons like you, that’s all that you can support.

  30. This man will go down in my book as a great American President. If you re among the people who will vote and support Donald Trumo and if he wins please please do not start crying about the choice you made. Trump an be a business man but that is is! He is ignorant and stupid (I know more about isis than the generals) really? He knows nothing aout foreign policy and this country is going to suffer the greatest disaster the world has seen. Sooooo if you think it was bad under Obama and if you think he has done nothing for this country well hold on to your bat hats because this country will be in big trouble!

    1. Trump is “ignorant” and stupid”???
That speaks volumes about your level of intelligence!

yes, I’m one of the deplorable human being who does work, pay taxes, owns a gun and VOTES!!! And I don’t vote for crooked corrupt Clinton’s either.

      1. No one is deplorable for doing those things. But Trump is crooked and racist and is purposely playing to the white nationalist fringe. THAT make you deplorable if you support him.

  31. This man needs to get the credit he deserves and I am proud to be American with a president of his compassion and dedication to actually serving the people!

  32. I read through pretty much all of the exhaustive list of accomplishments of President Obama given above. Kudos to the author for compiling such an impressive tally of greatness. Once the racists die out (I pray to God…), history will indeed back the fact that this man was and is one of the greatest leaders on the planet. The naysayers are entitled to their opinions, but I remember all too well the way things felt in this country in January, 2009. As a business owner, I can’t say I had my finger on the pulse of the entire situation, but I know from my customers that the economy went to hell in a handbasket seemingly overnight. I personally felt the panic rising as most of our venerable systems and institutions starting failing one by one. Then it became an avalanche and I wondered if the country would implode. No president could single-handedly resolve this mess; he had help. Obama is not superman, but the way he was able to institute such a massive turnaround was epic in proportion. He made George W. Bush look like a bumbling idiot. The sad fact is that many Americans wouldn’t know greatness if it slapped them in the face. Hmm, maybe that might work…

    1. Don’t count on that die-out of racists. I am 63 and was sure that when those who are 70 and above died out things would be better. I was using the parameters of the baby boomers as a guide. I barely make it into that group, if at all. However, the younger set are the ones who will carry his and like-minded politicians water in the future elections. They are between 30, and 50. My brother and his family is part of them and has voted me off the island. Good riddance to those who, knowing my health issues and my dependence on subsistence SS, went out and voted for the trumpet anyway. He also has a MIL older than I am and on dialysis. Really? Are they that stupid? The answer? A resounding YES!!

      1. My son is 26 and his generation and later see racism and sexism as absolutely unacceptable. If they can learn to vote more responsibly, we’ll be in good shape.racism is dying out.

  33. Thank you SO very much for this information. I have been searching hi-and-low for irrefutable documentation. It can be extremely difficult, which can lead to depending on talking heads!!

  34. Great president, about time someone in office actually cares about our enviroment, our only home, planet earth, and avoided another great depression, and, and, and…….

  35. This post is about facts and discussion, not bullying.. Keep the unfactual bullying to yourself or go stand in front of a brick wall and throw baseballs at it. That may wake you up to reality and teach you to think about what you read here. BIG HINT — the title.

  36. Excellent. Thanks for clear list of President Obama. President Bush didn’t have any of these accomplishments. I just saying

  37. The ones that have a problem with President Obama has low self-esteem. All haters need 2 read his list of accomplishmentsd ,they will soon realize that they have been enjoying exactly what they’ve been hating him for. can I ask a question what about the fathers ,Brothers ,nieces ,uncles and mothers never came back home looking for mass destruction weapons that never existed..but everyone is blaming Hillary for Benghazi I

  38. IM a proud twofer for this president! He is the first president in almost 50 years of voting that I actually voted FOR. Hillary will be the second.

  39. And FYI, Milt, as of Aug 3, 2016, President Barack Obama has commuted more harsh sentences (562) than the previous NINE presidents combined! Greatest legacy ever!

    1. Same here. It has been a very long time since we had such a classy, hardworking, intelligent, funny, quick-witted president – and it will likely be a very long time before we are so honored again.

  40. I in 2007 I Voted for Hillary Clinton, but in Nov. 2007 I Voted for President Barack Obama. I still believe we did the right thing in Electing him not only once, but Re-electing him for his second term.
President Barack Obama has done everything he could for this United States Of America, even with the Republican Controled Congress trying to block him everyway he went.
He has done so much more for us then Former President Bush could have ever done, but Didn’t. President Obama had to clean up Bush’s garbage, and he left a lot.
Still to this day, the republicans give this man NO recognition as to the good he’s done for this country. They bad mouth him every chance they can.
Though ISIS was around since 2006, republicans and so called Liberal’s are Blaming it all on President Obama and Hillary Clinton. How Sad!!
Hillary Clinton will make a Great President also. What is so funny is when she was running in 2007, Trump was endorsing her, Saying she would make a Wonderful and Great President. Well, President Obama endorsed her, and I agree. I am for her and a straight Democratic Ballot.
    Go Hillary Clinton 2017!!!!
But, Sorry to see President Obama & Michelle Obama leave Office. Maybe in 2023 Michelle Obama will be running for President!!!! That will be wonderful!!!

    1. Well stated! (from a Canadian) hoping that your country will come together and realize the very great President and his family that represented your country for 8 long years! Michele Obama said it best, when they go low, we go high!

  41. I came across the quote below on this blog, so as it is not the preamble of the introduction to The Obama Legacy: A We Write of the Greatest American Presidency. You can check out a preview on Amazon or at http://www.obamalegacybook.com

“Here comes the most dignified, intelligent and thoughtful American president of modern times. He arrives as a reminder amid Tea Party craziness, and Trumpery, hysterical slanders, racist smears and savage politics, that a man can not just survive and thrive, but walk tall without descending into the gutter with his opponents”–Polly Toynbee

    1. We will never experience the likes of President Obama again. He is an absolute master at taking the high road. Oh what it would have been like to have him running against DT!!

  42. Would love to see a list of the things he trried to accomplish but was unable because of Republican legislative control. So much more could have been done if our elected officials knew how to work together for the greater good.

  44. so glad to see these accomplishments from the past eight years I am sure they have helped someone somewhere…sad to say that I have not benefited from one of them and I know so many more like me….unless you call working harder to pay more into a system that is designed to keep people running on a hamster wheel…there has been no recovery for us and just when we think it is coming well it gets taxed/legislated away….illegal immigrants and people on welfare/food stamps live better than I do…so for those of us ‘stuck’ in the middle….none of these ‘accomplishments’ are very exciting unless of course you count the fact that ‘yes!” we get the honor of paying for it!

  45. What a pile of crap, this man is going down in history as the most self grandstanding person ever to hold that office. This nation is far worse than before him in every way, What a pile of crap, he is undisciplined and inept in every way. If the clown was not half black he would have never been elected. Go ahead and worship the worthless clown you fool.

    1. It’s obvious that these facts are irrelevant to people like you with their heads buried in a dark place or too stupid to understand. or to hate filled to bother listening and learning

    2. You are the epitomy of political ignorance. Mentioning his race obviously means that was a problem for you. If you don’t remember correctly, he ran against a white mans o he won because he was competent and relatable to the American Citizens. There has never been a scandal of any kind while he has been in office (refer to Watergate and other political scandals) and brought this country back from the bring of a Depression created by Bush. Know your facts before you post something so ignorant.

  47. Almost everything you’re claiming he did is a lie. The economy is far worse under him. Unemployment looks good on paper, but is the worst it’s ever been. When you take a good hard look at his presidency, you’ll see how he has ruined America

    1. You do not know anything about the economy, nor anything else. Read sources that are not politically motivated. Read economic papers comparing the present economy to that of other recent presidents, especially both Bushes and Reagan. Do not just tune in to Fox drivel etc.

    2. You make NO sense!! Looks good on paper… but the facts are the facts… How can you twist them for your own? He’s definitely one of the Best President’s we have ever had.

    3. You can’t just say it’s a lie. You can’t just say stuff. You have to prove it. SHOW me the evidence, and not some Obama-hater’s blog or other unscrupulous source. You should be able to. I want what’s best for my country. I don’t just agree with everything President Obama supports. But a knee-jerk “lies!” doesn’t cut it. Although this page is all about giving Obama credit, I would welcome a fair and balanced review of failures as well (without pretending he never did anything good). I don’t see a country in ruins. Maybe your area or demo hasn’t seen any improvement; we generally hang out with people similar to us, so it might look like everybody is suffering. But even though the recovery has been anemic and not favorable for me and people like me, I don’t pretend it’s worse than it was before or that there hasn’t been job growth overall. The president isn’t a king, so I don’t expect or blame everything on him (I thought people blaming Bush for things he had no control over was stupid as well). Anyway, I’m glad someone listed these things. 🙂

  48. People who call him a liar don’t state what. Our old mp said he’d remove one of the taxes. He joined them. That’s a fact. He also said the NDP/liberals were going to tax netflicks. That’s an American company, so again another whopper. Say what lies are said from Obama. Trump has fueled the hatred to get elected. Michelle Obama says you don’t have to buy designers labels to look good and she doesn’t wear them all time when she can get them free. Who’s trying to keep people from going in debt just to be accepted. She’s got class? Yet some Americans say she doesn’t. I see they both care for the US.

    1. Thank You Barack Obama for being a Great President. May God continue to Bless you and your Family.

Go Hillary Clinton our next President. ..

  49. Civility and the calm voice of reason, that’s what I like about Obama-haters. They are such attractive attributes, the envy of all the world.

  50. I thank President Obama for all he has done for our nation…The problem I have is why isn’t his staff and peoople that works with him not notifying the people of the United States of all he has done…I know President Obama will not praise himself. Also, why isn’t your website displayed more? I am going to post this on Facebook.

  51. Thank you President Obama-really hope to meet you someday! Blessings on you and your family! So appreciate you!

  52. Our prayers were answered. As a people (black) we have prayed for Mr Obama and his family everyday non stop since he took office. All he ever wanted to do was help others EVERYONE regardless of racial origin. GOD BLESS YOU PRESIDENT OBAMA. HE’S WATCHING. MAY OUR PRAYERS BE WITH YOU ALWAYS. YOU HAVE BEEN A BLESSING. WE HAVE PRAYED EVERYDAY FOR THIS COUNTRY’S LEADER.

  53. Hoping Hillary Clinton wins, so we as American can continue to enjoy the benefits of what the Obama administration has done for the American people that have been left out, funny how Trump claims to be the one for the change, it would be a benefit for strictly for the rich, sad!

    1. Republicans shit on him from day one. The economy went down everywhere. It’s all about trying to stay afloat. The rich don’t see poverty, so the poor have to speak up. The parties try to plea to the masses to get elected. And pointing fingers is easy. Many believe what they hear without asking why.

    2. What policicies. Show me the facts. What has the Republicans control the house and senate and what did they do or try to do. Facts facts

  54. One thing is certain, I see a lot of comments that most Americans are not even aware of it. Whoever is president of America … is essentially irrelevant to policy-making (especially external). She has a constant-line. This line is created outside the oval cabinet. The US president is just an administrative official who carried out what his task. There is no deviations. Proof, how was Kenedy. We are on the side is obviously much easier to spot than to the American citizens!

    1. So what?! He did not have tenure. He taught constitutional law and as I did…I’m sure the students addressed him as “professor”. What is the big whoop?!

      1. Sadly, you will never understand…he was a great President and was able to do all these things without the help of your Republican Congress….

  55. THANK YOU AUNT LAURINE! I wish this could go nation wide!!! I wish Obama would go for re-election for a third term. I hate the thought of a possible women hater, bad mouthing, Mexican/African American hating Trump getting in office. Lord help us if he gets in office!!!

  56. I love President Barack Obama and I will miss him so much.President Obama is one of the best presidents America has ever had or ever will have.I admire President Obama for all of the wonderful environmental things that he has done for this country and this world in general, not to mention how he has helped stop the unnecessary animal testing in America and helped with other animal issues. President Obama has achieved tremendous things since he has become president and he will be remembered throughout history!

    1. Oh, good lord… the TPP is not going to destroy the economy any more than NAFTA did. (Hint: it did not.)

  57. ne person above remarked and it is an outstanding analysis of the above article by writer in PCTC. – – – – – – – “Ignorance is bliss…brother, you must be one happy guy. THAT SAYS IT ALL

  58. “In 2008, we elected the most progressive president in history.”

Pretty ironic for a site with ‘pleasecutthecrap’ in its address.

While Obama has shown SOME progressive values, to actually CALL him a progressive fails any test for accuracy. His support of the TPP is just one example.

    1. I see. So, you have an absolute definition of “progressive” that no one can possibly meet without being against TPP? So, someone can actually do all of the above as president and over see and even guide progress on guns, abortion and the like, appoint people to his administration who actually take steps to improve societal problems, you know, like our criminal justice system, etc, but because he doesn’t pass your purity litmus test, he can’t possibly be progressive? Are you kidding me with this nonsense? Who died and made you arbiter of who gets to be progressive and who doesn’t? The actual definition is someone who actually moves the country forward. This list has 358 examples of things he has done to move the country forward. What have people like you done, except hold politicians and others to standards no one could possibly meet?

  59. Our President Obama one hell of a job with both hands tied behind is back, in spite of all he saved our country from falling into a deep depression, and many other things.

  60. I’m impressed how many of these things look more like what you would expect of a conservative than a liberal.
“Signed an Executive Order instructing federal agencies to review all federal regulations and remove any unnecessary and/or burdensome regulations from the books. ”
That’s what good Republicans are supposed to do.

    1. You mean, it’s the kind of thing Republicans say they will do, but never manage to get around to. The only three presidents to actually oversee a decrease in the number of regulations were Carter, Clinton and Obama. The Republicans all saw an increase in the number of regulations, especially Bush.

  61. The only thing that i don’t understand is why the majority of the people he helped can’t see what he did. Once again his approval rating is above 50% but congress is still ignoring this. over 80% of all Americans want sensible gun control, why is this so hard to get through congress. My prayer is that before he leaves office the Democrats get control of both house of congress. When will the haters quite the hate, All I would like to see is for them to just give him credit for what he did for the greater portion of Americans. Stop just looking at your personal situation and look at the global trend. President Obama is loved by the largest portion of World leaders than any president in recent history giving us more allies than ever before. Some are dependent on us but some are self sufficient and contribute to the world peace narrative. We have been carrying England for years but when President Obama tries to aid countries of color he is dumped on. Go figure. I love my President for what he has accomplished despite one of the most dysfunctional congresses in modern history. Stop the hating and help him do a better job or shut the FU*K UP!.

  63. Thanks for this enlightening list of Pres. Obama’s accomplishments! Proud 2 Say I voted 4 him 2008 & 2012!

  64. Roman Marquez, If President Obama found a way to give every American a pound of pure Gold you would probably find a way to not give him any credit for it. What do you have to say about the RepubliKens that said, “what ever President Obama proposes any we will vote against it. That sounds like the forgoing statement. Give me a brake, the only thing you really have against The President is that he is Black and doing such a great job despite pledges like the one just mentioned defying the odds and getting reelected so he could keep doing thins for those that have been neglected for so long.

  65. It’s only because of the shale oil boom and fracking technology, that the US economy has been saved, Bush didn’t have the luxury of US energy independence ,the only thing Obama can take credit for is killing the Keystone pipeline,so his biggest campaign contributor can continue to haul shale oil by rail, causing greater damage to the environment,

    1. Can you read, are you saying this post is a lie. Either way you are mistaken. Even this post leaves out some of the good that President Obama has done. Getting the Nuclear band for starters. This may not make you feel any safer but it dose me and I am a combat vet.

    2. you’re talking out of your you know what you sound like somebody that doesn’t believe in climate change and guess what it is a fact it’s real President Obama has done wonderful things towards climate change and will be remembered in history for it

  66. Thank you for this article! Republican supporters don’t want to recognize how much he has done for the United States of America. I will share this on social media.

  67. Your list of President Obama’s achievements is excellent. Thank you for doing that!

I may have missed them, but just in case — Please make sure that funding/killing Bin Laden is in the list, as well as having been awarded a Nobel Peace Prize (and donating the proceeds) is in the list.

    Thank you.

  68. Well I am an Australian citizen and I don’t believe I have a right to any opinion on the administration of Obama. As a person I believe he is very intelligent and witty, very cautious when he chooses his words, does his homework very well when he has to reply to questions gives intelligent answers, he attracts people towards him but ofcourse there are bigots in this world who judge him for the color of his skin and dig dirt on him just for the heck but if you believe in Karma what ever you do to others spitefully comes back at you with twice the strength. I like President Obama and I’m sure with another term he would have progressed America to another dimension of progress. God bless Obama.

    1. I think that you’re a great person to speak on him. You can see the things he does/aus without any pre-established (American) cultural biases or party-affiliated biases.

It really hurts me to see how he and his family have carried themselves and still see how the media and people here will try to smear his character, his work, his family and his legacy.

  69. I’m thinking…It looks like President Obama has been getting ready for Bernie Sanders! Bush left Obama a sinking ship and, hey, we’re still afloat. I can’t say I really like Obamacare BUT the actions of the health insurance corporations raising the rates so high is the reason. I think he gave insurance companies a chance to make it work, it’s time for single payer. The reason a lot of people don’t think he is doing anything is Mainstream Media only covers strife and, well, BS. Folks trying to survive in the real world don’t have time to search for the truth at this point. Thanks for the resource, though some have not come to fruition yet, still having trouble with banks and medical cannabis businesses here in CA. BTW Milt, I am one of those retired baby boomers. I stepped down to hopefully let someone who needed a job good have it. I may end up having to take up another space in the job market because a hundred dollar basket of food costs 150 now and it’s not even full. I worked hard for my retirement, put in more than I will ever get back at the rate they are paying me. So, remember, most of us are also victims of that rigged economy that has been going on for years. Thanks again, going to share this info.

    1. Agreed! It’s amazing considering the GOP doesn’t play well with others. They’ve costs the tax payers millions of dollars by shutting down more than once ad well as the Bengahzi investigations alone! I’m so sick and tired about people talking out their you know what about him failing us.

      1. I’m Canadian and have been watching politicians for about 40 years.
Your article missed a very big moment. Obama must be the only politician in the free world to call that money Bush was giving the car manufacturers “A LOAN”.Countries always give big companies free money. He wasn’t even elected yet. And Bush was tossing them another boatload so people wouldn’t lose their jobs till Obama stepped in and called it a loan.
As for health care..it wasn’t just for welfare people only. It was for the “working poor” middle class, and all the others who paid for insurance but were cut off cz they cut off anyone who start piling up the bills. You can’t let your people die cz they couldn’t afford a doctor or health care. It’s all about where you put the money. Thats why Canada and England didn’t have a space program. England’s the best…they don’t pay for medicibe either.
He also made it illegal for car manufacturers to make new cars without a rear camera. Too many kids being killed by the blind spot.
He and his wife came into office with $700 million and they promote not having to wear designers clothing to look good.
They have good morals. Rare for politicians. They’re dedicated to each other and to the country. The economy was going down around the world when bush was in and he did sink it lower. Obama brought it up in his time.
It’s not the majority that hates Obama. It’s the loudest . The bullies, the racists and most of all the Republicans.
Let’s not forget the war between the north and south was created by the politicians. Their greed for power.. not their interest in making it a better country and everyone suffered badly..
It is sad that he isn’t recognized for what he did for the country.
Let’s not forget Jesus was hung too. and for a crime that was not death for punishmen either…and he cured people.
This all about bullies and jealousy. We can’t let these selfcentered idiots take potshots at good people. We have to be just as loud.. Most Canadians love the Obamas. Anyone rational, anyway. We have our idiots too.

    2. James Mazzeo you are so right and what a great post most men would have given up and said to hell with it but our President Obama kept pressing on.

  70. While I’m certainly willing to admit that almost anyone has SOME redeeming qualities, and I’m sure Obama has done some good while in office, but many of your examples are backed by “twisted” statistics.
The easiest to pick out (because there are too many for me list them all) is the unemployment rates. Your numbers don’t include all the Americans that have completely given up looking for work. When these people are counted (why would any sane person NOT count them in the first place?) It puts unemployment rates up to about 15%. Which is a STAGGERING portion of our population unemployed!!

    1. I have only two rules for commenting on this blog. 1. Be civil. 2. Stick to facts. You’re civil, but don’t seem to be a fan of facts. Nothing in this post doesn’t match what is said in the citation. Therefore, I haven’t twisted anything. As for the unemployment rate, what you say is untrue. A lot of people have given up looking for work, but that doesn’t mean they’re all sitting at home without income. There are two factors that weren’t factors before. One is the massive retirement wolf baby boomers and the other is the gig economy.

The unemployment rate hit 10% at the height of the Bush Recession. The same unemployment rate, using the same criteria, is now 5%. I stand by that statistic.

      1. I was thinking the same thing Milt. The fact that “chronic unemployed” are not counted in stats concerning unemployment started long before President Obama’s administration. Chronic unemployed include disabled folks who can not work also … and I want to add, VERY good job fact checking and presenting an honest, factual article. Wish more posters were like you … you have a good respect for the truth!

    2. That is the world’s biggest misconception!!!That’s what Republicans use to avoid giving Obama’s his due credit! How could so many people stop looking for work? Who could afford to stop looking for work??? Unemployment benefits don’t last forever….so we supposed to believe millions of Americans have the luxury of not looking for work..even people with money like Warren Buffett, if they stopped working would eventually run out of money if they weren’t investing and therefore increasing their wealth…what poor person has that luxury??? Therefore, “stopped looking for work” is a Fox’s new fairytale!!!

    3. Are you kidding me! That fact is the same statistics are used in every presidency. Do you honestly think when reporting President Obama’s statistics they arbitrarily excluded the unemployed that has given up? The unemployed that is not longer receiving benefits has always been excluded from the census. This is because they have no way to continue to track these individuals. As such, president Obama’s reported statistics are NOT squewed.

    4. Why is it that when the statistics do not fit your narrative you want to call them twisted. These statistics have been given by the same criteria for years, but if they make President Obama better at change for the good they become twisted. The same criteria was used for the numbers given to us for Bush. Get a clue, Bush put us in the toilet and President Obama brought us, atleast, back to above water, and I would argue, much further.

    5. You can compare any previous terms because his method of counting people not looking for work has not changed. They have always been excluded from the rate that is reported by DOL and BLS. That hasn’t changed.

    6. So you understand how utterly stupid you sound?!

How the hell do you figure that someone measures when an individual has “given up”, or why that distinction would even need to be recorded, and if that distinction even existed why they would be a need to omit that subset of unemployed people from the total count. That’s like saying they didn’t include unemployed people who were unenthusiastic about finding another job.

Do you see how completely nonsensical that sounds? Damn the media will put anything out there to take a poke at Obama. And Fox News Sheeple will eat it up.

    7. I assure you that if a republican held the highest office and was credited with this unemployment figure, they would certainly be taking credit for it as 4.9%. I always love the way it is stated that people just stop looking for work and drop out of the work force. Yes, that happens, but what is also never mentioned is that roughly half of the 76,000,000 baby boomers have reached retirement age. We all knew our work force was going to shrink drastically, hence the panic over insufficient Social Security contributions. People up to age 64 are used in the workforce calculation. How many have dropped out to retire, but can afford to hold off on collecting SS to get a larger benefit check, so they end up in the unemployed figure. I certainly don’t see 15.9% of the population out on the street. As a matter of fact, I must be very lucky not to know anyone currently unemployed.

  71. What I laugh at most is that Republicans will tell you Barack Obama is the worst President in history….however when ever they want to compare..they always compare his accomplishments with Ronald Reagan…the God of not only Republican Presidents…but of all Presidents according to them….and yet…a fair comparison of both (just look at Forbes, a right wing lover) shows that Obama compares very favorably with Reagan and at many points surpasses Reagan…..

    1. Lets not forget the scandals of the Reagan administration. Iran Contra, many in his administration being indicted, Reaganomics failing and taking money from other funds to prop it up, Beirut Marine barracks killing over 200, he invaded Granada for no reason and the list seems to go on. It seems he started getting approvals because he was shot. I do have real questions? I honestly want to know why Reagan is considered a great president? Everything I read is negative.

  72. I don’t conflate support for Sanders with rejection or disparagement of Obama. I voted for Obama in both national a elections and in the state (PA) primary in 2008. I voted for Sanders in the primary in PA. I worked pretty hard for Obama in 2008 and again did some in 2012 although the election effort was less mobilized in our congressional district in 2012. I gave Obama’s campaign efforts over $150 in 2012 alone.
I do not conflate Obama with Hillary Clinton. I am less than thrilled with her. Nor do I think she’ll be particularly effective in following his style.
It is Hillary who worries me this time. Sanders won’t be perfect but he will try. Will he be any more successful in strengthening health care or ramping back the current build toward arms by the Military Industrial Complex than Obama? That remains to be seen.
Please don’t conflate Hillary Clinton with Barak Obama as you seem to be doing in your article’s top photo.

  73. An 85 year young senior citizen who voted for Obama twice and thankful I did…surrounded by ignorant “friends” that continue to bash him and call him un-American…said he does not salute the flag; talked unkindly about us in Japan…so uninformed…what is they are reading? 1. This is great! no matter what you do good or bad, someone will have something to say. Beginning with “BUT” for some.

      2. President Obama and First Lady Michelle,

Simply the best. Thank you both for giving your best on a continuing basis for the past eight years. I knew I was not crazy after I read your platform and now here we read all your ‘citations.’ Am I surprised? Nooo. I wasn’t crazy either when I voted for you, and yet here is the proof. So, what the other side of the aisle is refusing to read it? Fine, if they want to remain ignorant fools, Let it be! You know something . . . . . . I just love DOUBLE FEATURES, specially when they are both WORLD CLASS! WELCOME HILLARY.

    2. they are just blind sighted by lies on face book and they believe it to be true, one woman sais she knew it to be a lie but it looked good to her. I proved what she was passing around was false.

    1. Read a lot of these. Some sound good to me. Did read the one about making America great in the eyes of the rest of the world…well that is a prevarication. We have lost a great deal of world respect with Obama.

        1. I just got back from four months in Europe and Asia and I don’t know if love is the right word to use to describe how many of the citizens in other countries view him. ” Manageable, doesn’t quite get it, wants to do the right thing, but doesn’t know how, he’s okay, etc. These are all things I heard in hostels and other places when people were describing what he seems like to them. They think he is in over his head, but seems like an ok guy.

          1. That’s been explained away by people much smarter than I. Labor participation rate is irrelevant right now. What is happening right now was predicted long before the economy melted down. And in fact, while your minders at Fox News claim it’s lower than ever, it was actually lower in the post-war era. Here’s a link to an article calling BS on the entire argument. http://www.factcheck.org/2015/03/declining-labor-participation-rates/

          1. I’m not informed enough about NRA people, but I do know that “We” is not exclusive of that group…WE THE PEOPLE, will never be just white, ever again.

        2. I travel the world constantly and the world loves America in General and for things more important than our good teeth and big smiles. Obama helped to change that! I wear a 2008 Obama Fleece and I could have sold it a thousand times for a thousand bucks. Wish I’d bought more of them!

      1. That is possibly due to the obstacles placed in his path. It is not the president who has total power to do the job. The congress and the supreme court with their negativity have hindered the presidential office and the infighting that they do reflects upon the USA as a whole.

      2. Regarding “we have lost a great deal of world respect with Obama” you’re confusing this with Bush – we’ve regained respect under Obama.

        1. I was terrified when Bush left and President Obama began because I had lost half of my savings under Bush. I have them back now thanks to President Obama who has done so much for Americans during his two terms as President but he won’t have any thanks from the racists who came out from under their rocks in huge numbers during his terms. He has done so much beyond that despite the Republicans/Koch brothers who have spent so much and done so much to keep him from winning that second term – and failed. I keep telling myself that greedy, ugly billionaires will never beat intelligent and caring Americans. And then I pray that I am right.

          1. So Mr Leroy, if you’re going to make that kind of comment, what makes him not an intelligent leader? I’ll guarantee you, with his degree from COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY, a law degree from HARVARD LAW SCHOOL, A CONSTITUTIONAL LAW PROFESSOR for 12 years at the University of Chicago Law School, an Illinois Senator for 17 years, he’ll run rings around you. Any other stupid comments?

          2. Has anyone noticed by chance how certain people have done everything in their power to discredit this man with opinions suggested as fact. I tried so hard to try and figure out the arguments, but when you do the research for yourself you see that he was doing a good, dare say great job. They called him an idiot when he is not only highly educated, but also has a amazing comprehension of history (both American and world), human interaction, race, religion, and social psychology, and mental psychology and understands the complexities of these relationships and how they effect his work towards peace and cohesion. His one problem was trying to compromise. That is why the Republicans call him weak, among other unflattering things. But, I still don’t understand the weakness in understanding and working towards meeting the needs of all others. If that’s a weakness, I fear for the future of the US.

          1. the world respects Obama for all the Magnificent things that he is done and all of his accomplishments you’re probably some stupid Trump voter

          1. I couldn’t have said it better! Obama is a rare president who leads with both his enormous Heart and genius intellect. His fine leadership has made me proud to be an American.

      3. That is objectively false, Clint. The rest of the world does laugh at the United States, but I promise you, it has nothing to do with Barack Obama.

      4. Hardly correct Clint, your source for this conclusion that the United States has “lost a great deal of world respect” is clearly lacking a factual basis.

      5. Where are your CITATIONS, facts or paper (in this case, digital prof). To just present only opinion is same thing the Republikans have used to spread their venom.

      6. The “we” are those that have lost a lot of respect not the American People. Their is a big difference. The “we” are those that continue ot look at the accomplishments of one of the greatest presidents in our history through tainted rose clouded glasses, because the “we” are those that are still bitter, and live in fear that unless our country is at war, selling brain washed tickets and bailing out the rich while labeling the working class of this great nation , our country is looked upon poorly by the rest of the world. Get a grip clint. Take off the blinders or perhaps your “we” are those that stand behind the trumps of the world in their claim to” lets make America White Again” and send us and the “we” to hell in a hand basket. The only respect lost is in the eyes of the”we” and the “them (s)” of the world. Plain and simple.

      7. When you say that “we have lost a great deal of respect with Obama”…that is an opinion. All of us are entitled to opinions. However if asked to show facts or proof that indeed the United States has lost respect under Obama’s watch…well show me.

      8. You think so, when was the last time you have seen another countries elected officials yelling 4 more years for an out going US President? Never!

      9. Actually Obama is generally adored in the rest of the world – See “Most Admired Man in the World 2015”

The respect we lost from the world is entirely linked to the Bush Administration. And the fact that Obama has been going out and repairing ties with other nations and generally cleaning up the HUGE mess he inherited in a respectable and genuine wat has only earned him the respect of the world. Trust me most foreigners would have a more favorable opinion about Obama than the people here who can’t look past their own biases/affiliations to see the tremendous amount of work he has done/ accomplished.

        1. From a Pacific perspective (New Zealand) we are continually surprised by the vitriol heaped on Obama by his opponents when we see things very differently. Our perspective is he is one of the ‘great’ presidents of recent times. Why? He inherited the worst recession since the Great Depression, and now the United States has the healthiest economy of all the major powers, with unemployment back down to 5.0 per cent (not an insignificant achievement). In terms of foreign policy his fundamental insight has been to understand that very little that happens or could happen in the Middle East is really a massive threat to America’s vital interests. Obama has been free to concentrate on the issues that he thinks are really important, and that is where he has made real progress. His successes (again, from an outsider perspective)? Rescued the economy, wound down two wars, Obamacare (extending healthcare to those who can’t afford it arguably need it most), the Iran nuclear deal, normalising relationships with Cuba to name but a few. His flaw, supposedly, is that he’s too dispassionate, too rational. The obvious response is that you can’t have too much of a good thing.

Obama is one of the five most significant figures in democratic politics of the past 50 years, the others being Margaret Thatcher, Ronald Reagan, Mikhail Gorbachev and Paul Keating.

      10. Interesting Clint. How have we lost respect with Obama? With the Iraq war, GW Bush lost a great deal of respect and I believe Obama’s foreign policy and gained at least some of the respect we lost during that time?

      11. The Republicans did everything they could to sabotage, this administration. .
Don’t forget, the Republicans took an “Oath “,not to help this President!
That’s who you should blame. ..

      12. Lies..Our Neighbor Canada loves him, France loves Obama! Italy Loves Obama! Australia likes him, Africa likes him..The Pope likes him. .India loves Obama. .shall I go on?

        1. You could go on with all the positive relationship building that President Obama has done. It’s truly amazing and more than commendable

      13. Not true. According to non-partisan Pew Research President Obama has a much higher favorability rating than President Bush had. Worldwide opinion of our country is related to our choice of leader of our nation. President Obama has acted & spoken intelligently & calmly, especially when compared to our previous president who needed help with the “big words”.

      14. I would like to read the articles you speak of. At least the ones not written by a white supremacist that states opinions as fact. Which are later proven wrong. The actual world thinks that he has/is doing a good job. In fact, most of the world has written of their surprise that a Black man was able to do a better job, despite the obvious decent and strong opposition at the policy level. Its obvious you don’t read much outside certain literature, so you should probably be informed that most of them see us more as terrorist than ISIS. Why do you think that is?

      15. Wrong totally! We travel worldwide and extensively….people love him elsewhere and almost everywhere…throughout Europe, Australia, Canada, South America including Mexico, India, Turkey, Jordan, Egypt, any democratic country in Africa such as South Africa etc. Also, you should read more, watch Fox less and not listen to Limbaugh, Beck or Savage if you actually want news closer to the truth.

      16. Amongst my compatriots in Europe, Australasia and Africa Barack Obama is very highly regarded as a world leader to be admired.

      17. Your nuts! The US has gained TONS of respect in the international arena….all lost under the Cheney/Bush administration. Go talk to any friends on facebook you may have from overseas and ask what the general consensus in their country.
