S#!+ Rush Limbaugh Says, Updated

The fight to get rid of Rush Limbaugh continues unabated, despite the fact that he’ll never actually go off the air, unless his listenership drops. The best way to do that is to make his words available to everyone. By doing that, no new listeners will tune him in, even as his old listeners die off.

We should also be really careful how we use advertiser pressure to effect change. As we’ve seen over the last year, it can come back and bite us. Consider the situation at Dial Global, which owns Bill Press’, Thom Hartmann’s, Stephanie Miller’s and Ed Schultz’s shows. They were forced to take a huge write-off, because a number of advertisers defected from all talk radio in the wake of the pushback against Limbaugh, post-Sandra Fluke. In other words, advise the advertiser of what they’re supporting, and stop making threats against advertisers and/or slagging them publicly. I mean, really; if they advertise on Limbaugh’s show, but they also advertise on every progressive talker out there, are they really “bad guys”?

To do this right, point out that Rush Limbaugh goes way beyond just being a typical right winger and Republican shill. You’ll have to show advertisers that what they are buying is something akin to a hatefest. To do this, you’ll need ammunition. Luckily, this blog is a helper. Here are some of Limbaugh’s most famous statements and tirades. Let advertisers know this is what they’re supporting when they buy ad time on Limbaugh’s program. But when they don’t respond, let it go. This is about education and enlightenment, not revenge.

Limbaugh on race:

“Have you ever noticed how all composite pictures of wanted criminals resemble Jesse Jackson?”

“The NAACP should have riot rehearsal. They should get a liquor store and practice robberies.”

“They’re 12 percent of the population. Who the hell cares?”

When Carol Moseley-Braun (D-IL) was in the U.S. Senate, the first black woman ever elected to that body, Limbaugh would play the “Movin’ On Up” theme song from TV’s Jeffersons when he mentioned her. Limbaugh sometimes still uses mock dialect — substituting “ax” for “ask”– when discussing black leaders. Source (for all four quotes above)

“Sorry to say this, I don’t think (Donovan McNabb) been that good from the get-go,” Limbaugh said. “I think what we’ve had here is a little social concern in the NFL. The media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well. There is a little hope invested in McNabb, and he got a lot of credit for the performance of this team that he didn’t deserve. The defense carried this team.” Source

“Look, let me put it to you this way: the NFL all too often looks like a game between the Bloods and the Crips without any weapons,” Limbaugh stated. “There, I said it.” Source

“So you go into Darfur and you go into South Africa, you get rid of the white government there. You put sanctions on them. You stand behind Nelson Mandela — who was bankrolled by communists for a time, had the support of certain communist leaders. You go to Ethiopia. You do the same thing.”  Source

“You can’t criticize the little black man-child (Democratic candidate Barack Obama). You just can’t do it, ’cause it’s just not right. It’s not fair. He’s such a victim.” Source

“And don’t forget, Sherrod Brown is black. There’s a racial component here, too. And now, the newspaper that I’m reading all this from is The New York Times, and they, of course, don’t mention that.” (As we all now know, Sherrod Brown isn’t black) Source

“We are being told that we have to hope he succeeds, that we have to bend over, grab the ankles, bend over forward, backward, whichever, because his father was black, because this is the first black president.” Source

“What they don’t know is that Obama’s entire economic program is reparations. If I were [Al] Sharpton, if I’d been guest-hosting Sharpton’s show and I got a call like that, somebody complaining, I’d say “Hey hey hey, shhh. Let me tell you the truth here. Everything in the stimulus plan, every plan he’s got is reparations.” Source

“When Clarence Thomas said uppity black thinks for himself means he’s off the reservation, so to speak. He’s not following the civil rights speech codes set forth by the Reverend Jackson and Al Sharpton and whoever else is in charge of them. But nobody — Obama is uppity, but not as a black. He is an elitist. He does think he’s smarter and better than everybody else. That’s what he was taught. He’s a Harvard man.” Source

Refers to President Obama as “Our Little Boy President.” Source

On his TV show in 1992, after Spike Lee suggested that black schoolchildren get a day off from school to see his film Malcolm X: “Spike, if you’re going to do that, let’s complete the education experience. You should tell them that they should loot the theater, and then blow it up on their way out.” Source

(After reading a report of black students assaulting a white student on a bus, in an incident that police reported was not racially motivated): “In Obama’s America, the white kids now get beat up with the black kids cheering, ‘Right on, right on, right on.'” Source

You just gotta be who you are, and I think it’s time to get rid of this whole National Basketball Association. Call it the TBA, the Thug Basketball Association, and stop calling them teams. Call ’em gangs. You have the Laker Gang, you have the Heat Gang, you have a Timberwolf Gang [distortions of official team names], and let ’em strap up out there, and let ’em market their CDs. Instead of selling concessions, sell CDs out there at the concession stand.

All the players get involved in this, and if a fight breaks out, hey, it’s what happens! It’s what happens with gangs, and if a cop gets bloodied, you know, that’s a bonus for the gang member that pulls that off, and let the fans, you know, go in knowingly. They’re going in to watch the Crips and the Bloods out there wherever the neighborhood is where the arena happens to be, and be who you are.  Source

“Holocaust? Ninety million Indians? Only four million left? They all have casinos — what’s to complain about?” Source

Discussing Rep. Jim Clyburn: Clyburn’s worried about not having a car? Clyburn’s worried about not having the perk of a big office? A driver? So, forth. The way this could all be worked out, Clyburn’s new position: Driving Miss Nancy. He gets to keep the car. He gets to go everywhere she goes.  Source

To a black caller who disagreed with him: “Take that bone out of your nose and call me back.” Source

“If you have often wondered just out of, you know, a legitimately curious political sense — if you have asked yourself why are so many Jewish people, liberal, what when it seemed so much of what liberals do would be anathema to Jewish people, particularly abortion, but any number of things — taxes, tax increase. Look it — you know something, folks?

“There are a lot of people, when you say banker, people think Jewish. People who have prejudice, people who have, you know — what’s the best way to say — a little prejudice about them. To some people, bankers — code word for Jewish — and guess who Obama’s assaulting? He’s assaulting bankers. He’s assaulting money people. And a lot of those people on Wall Street are Jewish. So I wonder if there’s starting to be some buyer’s remorse there.

“Anyway, if you’ve — if you have often asked that question, if you’ve been puzzled by so many Jewish people vote liberal or vote Democrat, you — give Norman’s book a shot. It’s called, Why Jews are liberals? He’s Jewish and he would know. And it’s — look, it’s a good read. And Norman is a — there’s no other way to say it — he’s a profound intellectual but he’s not an egghead elitist. And he’s written this book with an effort to have anybody that reads it understand exactly what he is talking about.” Source

“African-Americans today can be convinced that they are still slaves. … Jamie Foxx does it every day, Samuel L. Jackson and Reverend Jackson make the case that there is still slavery in this country.” show, Jan. 7, 2013

“If civil rights activists in the ’60s had owned guns, do you think they would have needed Selma?” – January 18, 2013

Limbaugh on women:

“What is it with all of these young, single white women? Overeducated- doesn’t mean intelligent.” Source

“What does it say about the college co-ed Susan Fluke [sic] who goes before a congressional committee and essentially says that she must be paid to have sex — what does that make her? It makes her a slut, right? It makes her a prostitute. She wants to be paid to have sex. She’s having so much sex she can’t afford the contraception. She wants you and me and the taxpayers to pay her to have sex.” Source

“A Georgetown coed told Nancy Pelosi’s hearing that the women in her law school program are having so much sex they’re going broke, so you and I should have to pay for their birth control. So what would you call that? I called it what it is. So, I’m offering a compromise today: I will buy all of the women at Georgetown University as much aspirin to put between their knees as they want. … So Miss Fluke and the rest of you feminazis, here’s the deal. If we are going to pay for your contraceptives and thus pay for you to have sex, we want something. We want you to post the videos online so we can all watch.” Source

“Colleges have been chickified. Men aren’t showing up in as many numbers as they used to…This is what we have done to boys and men. The feminists / feminazis have been working for years to this end: advance women by diminishing men.” Source

“The definition of a misogynist is a man who hates women almost as much as women hate women. That’s what a misogynist is. Did you know that…A misogynist is a guy who hates women almost as much as women hate women.” Source

“Feminism is about victimization. Don’t forget Undeniable Truth of Life Number 24. Feminism was established to allow unattractive women easier access to the mainstream.” Source

“My cat comes to me when she wants to be fed. I have learned this. I accept it for what it is. Many people in my position would think my cat’s coming to me because she loves me. Well, she likes me, and she is attached, but she comes to me when she wants to be fed. And after I feed her…she’s off to wherever she wants to be in the house, until the next time she gets hungry. She’s smart enough to know she can’t feed herself. She’s actually a very smart cat. She gets loved. She gets adoration. She gets petted. She gets fed. And she doesn’t have to do anything for it, which is why I say this cat’s taught me more about women, than anything my whole life.” Source

On Fox & riends, defending his selection as a Miss America judge, 02/03/2010: “I’m a huge supporter of women. What I’m not is a supporter of liberalism. Feminism is what I oppose. Feminism has led women astray. I love the women’s movement — especially when walking behind it.” Source

“I wonder: Why is it that Anthony Weiner turns out to be the kind of guy he is? How does that happen?…What kinda women has Anthony Weiner been around his whole life?He has been around a bunch of these kinds of women who have been attacking testosterone, who have been attacking traditional male roles. He’s been around women to whom the idea of a real guy is some metrosexual. Is it any wonder, ladies and gentlemen?…Hollywood is working on four or five (it might even be six) sitcoms about how men have basically just been just beaten down to pantywaist, Milquetoast wimps — and they’re comedies. It’s in vogue to make fun of weak, worthless, wimp sissies. That’s who the men are in these upcoming shows. Now, how do these men turn out that way? Who makes them that way? ‘Cause that’s not their natural state. I mean, you look at Weiner. We cannot blame what happened to Weiner on testosterone. We’re looking at a guy here who is kiddie whipped…somebody here who’s been hanging around these kind of women — and he’s doing anything he can to break out. He’s doing everything he can to step out and get away from their control. This, to Anthony Weiner, is being a guy. He’s not allowed to be a guy hanging around a bunch of liberal women.” Source

“The problem is — and dare I say this — it doesn’t look like Michelle Obama follows her own nutritionary, dietary advice. And then we hear that she’s out eating ribs at 1,500 calories a serving with 141 grams of fat per serving, yeah it does — what do you mean, what do I mean?

“What is it – no, I’m trying to say that our First Lady does not project the image of women that you might see on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, or of a woman Alex Rodriguez might date every six months or what have you. I mean, women are under constant pressure to look lithe, and Michelle My Belle is out there saying if you eat the roots and tree bark and the berries and all this cardboard stuff you will live longer, be healthier and you won’t be obese. Okay, fine, show us.” Source

Referring to above comments: “These were highly civil comments for crying out loud. I mean, people are going nuts. USA Today, the Politico. And some people were suggesting that my comments were below the belt. Well, take a look at some pictures. Given where she wears her belts. I mean, she wears them high up there around the bust line. Isn’t just about everything about her below the belt when you look at the fashion sense she has?” Source

Limbaugh on other things:

Referred to soldiers who support the withdrawal of troops from Iraq as “phony soldiers.” Source

Discussing an ad by VoteVets.org featuring Iraq war veteran Brian McGough: “He discusses his service in Iraq, the wounds he suffered there, and he says to me in this ad, ‘Until you have the guts to call me a ‘phony soldier’ to my face, stop telling lies about my service.’ You know, this is such a blatant use of a valiant combat veteran, lying to him about what I said, then strapping those lies to his belt, sending him out via the media in a TV ad to walk into as many people as he can walk into.” Source

On Haiti Earthquake relief: “Besides, we’ve already donated to Haiti. It’s called the U.S. income tax.”  (…)  “This will play right into Obama’s hands. He’s humanitarian, compassionate. They’ll use this to burnish their, shall we say, ‘credibility’ with the black community — in the both light-skinned and dark-skinned black community in this country. It’s made-to-order for them. That’s why he couldn’t wait to get out there, could not wait to get out there.” Source

On Michael J Fox advertisement of Claire McCaskill in 2008: “He is exaggerating the effects of the disease. He’s moving all around and shaking and it’s purely an act. … This is really shameless of Michael J. Fox. Either he didn’t take his medication or he’s acting.” Source

“A caller called here and was giving me grief for not wanting to do what it took to protect American jobs, and so I said to him, ‘If you are unskilled and uneducated, your job is going south. Skilled workers, educated people are going to do fine ‘cause those are the kinds of jobs NAFTA is going to create. If we are going to start rewarding no skills and stupid people, I’m serious, let the unskilled jobs that take absolutely no knowledge whatsoever to do — let stupid and unskilled Mexicans do that work.’” Source

“There is a movement on to normalize pedophilia, and I guarantee you your reaction to that is probably much the same as your reaction when you first heard about gay marriage. What has happened to gay marriage? It’s become normal — and in fact, with certain people in certain demographics it’s the most important issue in terms of who they vote for. So don’t pooh-pooh. There’s a movement to normalize pedophilia. Don’t pooh-pooh it. The people behind it are serious, and you know the left as well as I do. They glom onto something and they don’t let go.” – show, Jan. 9, 2013
