The 2020 election, which is easily one of the most consequential in the history of this country, takes place the day after tomorrow. There are a lot of questions to be asked, but the most important is the question we must ask those who will vote for Trump on Tuesday.
It’s a valid question because it demonstrates a distinct lack of standards when it comes to running for president, and the least we should expect from a president is that they show loyalty to the country and what it stands for. Yet, if you’re voting for Trump after four years of displaying no standards on his part, you are showing just how little you care for this country.
I’ve seen all the pro-Trump campaign commercials, and then some, in what can only be called their closing theme. Virtually all of them whine and cry and try to scare you with images of “the Liberal mob” talking over the government and imposing their will. How can you fall for that. Unless you’re an extreme right-winger who thinks everyone to the left of the KKK is a “liberal,” which makes you an idiot, you should know that this country has never really elected a full-on hardcore liberal. Also, the imagery of the “Leftist Thugs” who are rioting all through “left-run cities” is a complete snow job. For one thing, liberals like to organize protests, not riots. Also, this isn’t the 1960s; the current unicorn progressives are made up of Sixties hippie-types who had to find a babysitter for their grandchildren so they could march, and millennials who have a rosy and wholly inaccurate image of what the Sixties were like. The days of the “radical militant” have been over for 50 years, and have no place in the current environment, in which the “militant radicals” are all Neo-conservatives and white supremacists, and there is a lot of overlap.
Put simply, if you are voting for Donald Trump this time around, you are showing that you don’t care about this country, or what it stands for. That may see hyperbolic, but you should know that the latest pro-Trump campaign commercials are just so much bullshit. There’s one going around right now claiming that Trump “cares about us,” and the excuses presented to prove it are just purely fictional. They claim he increased the paychecks of working class people, and that’s simply not true. They refer to his tax cuts, of course, but most people making less than $100,000 per year saw almost no cut. Not only that, but the few tax cuts that could apply to the average family are set to expire in the next few years, so your paycheck is set to rise back up. And if you are one of those who have been affected by the shutdowns used to control the Coronavirus, he and his Republican lackeys think all you deserve is $1200, and no more.
The ads also claim Trump is being “tough” on China, but nothing could be further from the truth. Calling COVID-19 “the China Virus” does not constitute “getting tough” on China. And if you think is setting of tariffs on Chinese imports is “tough on China,” you should know; China doesn’t pay that tax, Americans do. And most of the people who buy these Chinese goods are those who are most likely to vote for Trump, so he really doesn’t care about anyone, even those of you who voted for him. He not only doesn’t care; he’s been “trained” to think of everyone who isn’t as rich as he is beneath him. That’s why he can’t accept that Barack Obama was a much better president than he; in his tiny little mind, a black man is inferior to him by default. And lying about Obama doesn’t actually help.
No, Obama didn’t work to divide the country, it wasn’t even part of his personality to do so. And, contrary to Trump’s assertions during the 2016 campaign, the economy was not “terrible” and Trump did NOT set up the “best economy in history.” That actually happened in the post-war era, when we became the strongest economic power in the world. By the mid-1950s, we had the largest, most prosperous economy in the world, but the white majority stupidly decided to leave non-whites out of it. Now more than 65 years later, the populations of non-white minorities have grown and they have started to take a greater part of what should have been theirs to begin with. Of course, Donald Trump was told by one of his political advisors early on that a president doesn’t actually do anything; he just takes credit for everything “good” that happens and it seems to be the only thing he learned about the job that he takes seriously.
As “president,” Trump has done literally nothing in four years. He’s shown himself to be incredibly lazy and he seems determined to “prove” that it’s not necessary for the president to work hard to do the job. He claims he did a great job with the economy, but really, can you name three major economic improvements he engineered during his four years in office? T believe he’s responsible for the state of the economy early on, you have to ignore the first seven years of the economic recovery, and you have to ignore the fact that this past year has been an economic disaster because his lazy, do-nothing approach to the Coronavirus left us vulnerable. In just about four years, Trump’s Administration has never submitted a proposed bill to Congress; everything he has done, he’s relied on “Executive Orders,” which he seems to think have the force and effect of law because it’s what he understands. As the owner of the Trump Organization, there’s little doubt that, when he gave an order, everyone jumped to fulfill that and do his bidding. And since he’s likely been told that the United States needs a CEO – someone who can run the government like a business – Trump doubtless imagines that the American people see his orders and work to do his bidding. It’s certainly clear he doesn’t see himself as an employee of the American people; he sees himself as the “Boss of America” ands expects everyone else in government to do what he orders them to do.
Therefore, if you plan to vote for Trump this election, you are in favor of the President acting as the “Boss of America,” which is against the values established in the Constitution. You want a king, with the power demonstrated by kings in the pre-democratic era. Voting for Trump means you don’t appreciate democracy, and you don’t care about making sure the people have the most power in our democracy. You also don’t seem to care about standards. Over the past four years, the so-called “president” has taken hundreds of “vacations,” in which he has played golf on the taxpayers dime, and paid for rooms, food and more for the entourage he has to take with him everywhere he goes. The problem is, he only did so at his own properties; at no time has the “president” shared the wealth with a privately-owned golf resort that wasn’t a Trump resort.
That means every tax dollar spent went into the coffers of the Trump Organization, meaning he has been enriching himself fr four solid years. That used to be considered corrupt. Now, you accept it and even approve of it, if you’re voting for him/it.
And that’s not all. Trump also owns the lease on the Old Post Office Building, which is now a Trump Hotel in Washington, just blocks from the White House. Since he became “president,” he has been booking foreign dignitaries into the hotel, thus enriching himself that way, as well.
If you’re voting for Trump, you are voting in favor of massive corruption and you are saying to future politicians that dipping into our tax money is perfectly okay. Most of us can’t bring ourselves to do that. So, when you lose the day after tomorrow, know that the defeat is because we can’t deal with the corruption. If you like the corruption, fine; I suppose you’re entitled. However, you should know that the majority of Americans refuse to accept it and would prefer the country have the same standards that made us the greatest country in the world.
And if all you care about is “winning,” you should know, the rest of us can’t think that way. Government is about doing what’s best for the American people, not what’s best for the politicians and their minions.
If you believe politics is all about you, then it’s no wonder you love Trump. You are welcome to join the American people again, once you get your head out of your asses…
